Let me preface all of this by saying that I’m not a screen printing professional and I learned how to do all of this by doing the exact same thing you’re currently doing: looking at DIY articles and using resources like Tumblr, YouTube, Blogger, etc. to see how other people have done this.
Also, if you’re not into DIY, there are literally thousands of kits you can buy to get started with screen printing. They sell them at Hobby Lobby and Michael’s, on Amazon and many other places. I don’t generally see them for anywhere under $80 dollars and that’s just too much damn money for me to spend on something I can do myself.
Materials: A silk-screen (instructions on how I make mine below) An exposure unit (instructions on how I made mine below) A 100% cotton t-shirt Speedball photo emulsion Inkjet printer (maybe) Transparency film for said inkjet printer Screen printing ink (preferably water-based) An old credit card A knife An iron or heatgun
